Short Term International Migration

30 May 2017

The Short Term International Migration (STIM) inflow figures for the year to end June 2015 (released last week) have been added to the Local Area Migration Suite dataview on Northamptonshire Analysis. This completes the migration suite dataset for the year to end June 2015, the STIM figures being released around nine months after the rest of the suite of local area indicators due to the fact that STIM data is produced from surveying persons leaving the UK rather than entering in order to establish the length of time they have actually stayed.

In the year to end June 2015, 2542 short term international migrants came to Northamptonshire. This equated to 3.5 migrants per 1000 resident population .... more than the England average rate of 2.8 migrants /1000 pop, but the same rate as the previous year (Y2End June 2014). Amongst the borough and districts, Northampton registered the highest rate of STIM with 7.7 /1000 resident population.
